With water consumption reaching 94 percent of capacity for two consecutive days the
City of Tulsa water distribution department, which in addition to supplying
water to Tulsa also provides water to 17 other communities(Bixby
included) and three more on an emergency basis, has asked all water utility
customers supplied by Tulsa to implement Stage 1 voluntary water rationing
beginning today, August 3rd. While the supply and quality continues to remain at
sustainable levels, Tulsa officials are concerned that water treatment plants
do not have the capacity to deliver the high demand long term.
Bixby water utility customers are asked to alternate days when they
water outdoors and to do so only between the hours of midnight and noon.
Odd-and even-numbered addresses are matched with odd-and even-numbered calendar
days. This means a homeowner with an address ending in an odd number
could water on an odd calendar day (e.g., 14411 So.
53rd East Avenue could water on August 3rd); a
homeowner with an address ending in an even number could water on an
even calendar day (e.g., 14412 So. 53rd East Avenue
could water on August 4th).
Neighborhood Entry Reserve
Landscape Areas will be considered using a similar formula: if your main
entryway into your neighborhood is 103rd East Avenue utilize
an odd numbered calendar day; if your main entryway is East
42nd Place South use an even numbered day for limited
water usage.
Stage 1
Voluntary Compliance Water Rationing Requirements:
·Sprinkler systems for
lawns/landscaping will be limited to alternate days and from midnight until
noon.
·All other forms of outdoor
lawn/landscaping watering irrigation systems including hand held hoses for
outdoor plants and gardens will be limited to the same alternate day from
midnight until noon.
·Odd-and even-numbered addresses
matched with odd-and-even numbered calendar days.
Finally,
in compliance with the City of Tulsa Stage 1 voluntary water rationing
request, the Bentley Park
Splash Pad will be closed until further notice.
